What is included in the rental price?
- INSURANCE
- Third party liability up to 1.300.000 € per accident.
- Bodily injuries to third party up to 1.300.000 € per victim.
- Fire or theft of the rented vehicle.
- Personal Accident Insurance Driver 5.000 € (only for cars).
- Collision Damage Waiver Insurance (CDW): The insurance covers damage to the rental vehicle. The client's responsibility is from 600 € to 1.500 € (for cars) and from 350 € to 650 € (for scooters, motorcycles and quad/ATV) - depending on the vehicle category.
- 24% VAT and 0.5 % municipality tax is included in price.
- Delivery and pickup at Preveza airport, at the port or at a hotel in a radius of 10 km from Lefkada town
- Breakdown assistance.
- Unlimited kilometers on the island for a rental period of minimum 3 days.

Which kind of insurance can I choose?
There are the following types of insurance:
A) Cars:
- CDW (Collision Damage and Theft Waiver): With this insurance the customer is covered in the event of damage or theft of the rented vehicle. The customer is liable for the first 600 to 1.500 € (depending on the vehicle category). This insurance is included in the rental price. The value of the liability (excess) is as follows: Category A + B + F1 -- 600 € // Category C + F2 -- 750 € // Category D + E + F3 + F4 + G + I -- 900 € // Category J + K -- 1.200 € // Category L -- 1.500 €
- FDW (Full Damage and Theft Waiver): With this insurance the customer can reduce the amount of liability (excess) to 1/3 of the original value. With FDW insurance the excess amount is as follows: Category A + B + F1 -- 200 € // Category C + F2 -- 250 € // Category D + E + F3 + F4 + G + I -- 300 € // Category J + K -- 400 € // Category L -- 500 €
- SCW (Super Collision Damage and Theft Waiver): Same as FDW but covers the WHOLE amount. The client is not responsible to pay anything for the accident.
B) Motorcycles and scooters:
- CDW (Collision Damage and Theft Waiver): With this insurance the customer is covered in the event of damage or theft of the rented vehicle. The customer is liable for the first 350 to 650 € according to the vehicle category. This insurance is included in the rental price. The value of the liability (excess) is as follows: 50 cc -- 350 € // 125 cc -- 350 € // 150 cc - 200 cc -- 400 € // 300 cc (Category 300) -- 450 € // 300 cc (Category 301) -- 500 € // 500 cc -- 650 €
- FDW (Full Damage and Theft Waiver): With this insurance the customer can reduce the amount of liability to 150 - 300 € according to the vehicle category. With FDW insurance the excess amount is as follows: 50 cc -- 150 € // 125 cc -- 150 € // 150 - 200 cc -- 180 € // 300 cc (Category 300) -- 200 € // 300 cc (Category 301) -- 250 € // 500 cc -- 300 €
C) Quad / ATV
- CDW (Collision Damage Waiver and Theft Waiver): With this insurance the customer is covered in the event of damage or theft of the rented vehicle. The customer is liable for the first 500 - 750 € according to the model. This insurance is included in the rental price.
In which cases does the insurance not cover damages?
If the driver does not meet the minimum age and driving licence requirements.
If the driver is under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
If the driver violated the Greek traffic law.
If the vehicle is being driven with a flat tire or with the over-heat indicator on
If the vehicle is being driven off-road or on unpaved roads.
For any personal belongings.
For damages caused by a driver that is not registered in the rental contract.
For loss of vehicle keys or for damages to the vehicle’s interior.
From which age can I rent? What is the maximum age?
A) Cars:
Minimum age is 22 years for small cars and 25 years for large cars. Μaximum age is 75 years. The driver must have a driving licence for at least two years for small cars and 3 years for big cars.
B) Motorcycles and scooters:
Minimum age is 18 years for small scooters 23 years for big motorcycles. Μaximum age is 75 years. The driver should have a driving licence for at least one year for scooters and 3 years for motorcycles.
C) Quad / ATV:
Minimum age is 23 years. Μaximum age is 75 years. The driver must have a car driver licence for at least three years.
Do I need a credit card to rent a vehicle?
Yes. The payment can be done also with cash but we need a credit card for the guarantee.
With which driving licence can I rent a vehicle?
A) Cars:
For renting a car a category B licence is required, which has been issued in a European country. Drivers from a country outside Europe - such as Australia or the USA - need an international driving licence.
B) Motorcycles and scooters:
The driver must be holder of a valid driver’s licence or international driver’s licence for the respective motorcycle category (category AM for 50 cc, category A1 for 125 cc or up to 11kW, category A2 for up to 35 kW, category A for bigger motorcycles).
Holders of a European driving licence category B (for cars) are allowed to drive a 50 cc scooter in Greece. Some European countries allow their citizens to drive a 125 cc with a licence category B (for cars) but in Greece you can only drive a 125 cc if your licence writes category A1, A2 or A.
C) Quad / ATV:
For renting a quad / ATV a category B licence (for car) is required, which has been issued in a European country. Drivers from a country outside Europe - such as Australia or the USA - need an international driving licence.
Can I choose the vehicle model when making a reservation?
Reservations are made by category and not by model. If you prefer a certain model please note it on the reservation form. We will try to reserve the preferred model if possible.
How do I make a reservation and how do I pay for the rental?
You can make a reservation via the internet, using the online form and take advantage of our special offers with online bookings. There is no deposit required for the reservation. The payment has to be done when you collect the vehicle, either in cash, by debit card or by credit card.
How do I change or cancel a reservation?
You can modify or cancel your reservation by using the "Manage your Booking" section on our website. Alternatively you can send an email to info@ioniancarrental.com or contact Ionian Car Rental by phone at +30 26450 25274. Please note that by changing the dates or type of vehicle, also the rental price might change. There is no extra charge for cancellation or change of reservation, if they are made up to 5 days before your arrival. Reservations which required a deposit can be cancelled at any time, however the prepaid deposit can not be refunded.
Can I transfer the vehicle on a ferry-boat?
No, you are NOT allowed to go to another island with one of our vehicles. Insurance companies do not cover damages which happen during transportation on the ferry-boat and we can’t offer road assistance and/or replacement vehicles on other islands. The only island which you are allowed to take our vehicle to is the island of Meganissi.
Am I allowed to drive out of Lefkada Island?
You are allowed to drive our cars on Lefkada Island, on Meganissi Island and on the nearby mainland. If you wish to go somewhere else in Greece, you are obliged to inform us about your trip. Going to other islands by ferry boat or crossing the borders of Greece is not allowed.
Please note that our motorcycles and quad ATVs are rented out to be driven only on Lefkada Island (including the road to Preveza airport). Customers wishing to drive a motorcycle, a scooter or a quad ATV outside of Lefkada need a written confirmation from Ionian Car Rental.
What is the minimum rental period, and what time do I have to return the vehicle?
Minimum rental period is one day. The vehicle must be returned at the time you arrange with Ionian Car Rental. Delays are charged with one third of the daily rate per hour. Delays of three hours or more are charged as a full rental day. Extensions of the rental must be agreed 24 hours before the contract expires.
What happens with traffic fines?
The driver is responsible for all traffic and parking fines. Our staff will tell you where you can pay the penalty. Unpaid fines will be charged to the customer's credit card.
What is the fuel policy?
The vehicle has to be returned with the same fuel level as it was taken. No money is refunded for excess fuel in the vehicle. If the vehicle is returned with less fuel or diesel, the customer will be charged with an additional refuelling fee of 10 €.
How much do I pay for child seats and additional drivers?
Baby seats and child seats cost 4 € per day and are charged with maximum 40 € for the whole rental period, booster seats cost 2 € per day and are charged with maximum 20 € for the whole rental period .
The first additional driver is free of charge. Each additional driver is charged with 5 € per day.
